BLURB

Welcome to Wynne, population 3,401.

No billionaires. No professional athletes. No celebrities.

In this small town, current events are pondered in mirrors at the local salon or around crowded tables at the diner, and there’s a new couple to gossip about. A rough and tumble woman who works in her dad’s garage, not yet ready to spread her wings, shows the new guy in town what it’s like to finally have roots.

It’s your run-of-the-mill, sexy, Astro van driving dentist meets smart-ass, bass fishing tomboy in a story of real-life romance.

Low on drama. High on love.

Pull up a chair and stay a while.

MY REVIEW

It needs to be said that I love M. Mabie’s writing. Her Wake series is remarkable. Listed as one of my favourites, Mabie gifted me something unforgettable and that is her words and her talent. And because of this, there is no hesitation when M. Mabie announces a new novel. I will read it and I will love it.

This brings us to Roots and Wings, with the tag line “Low on drama. High on love.” Mabie lets you know exactly what to expect from the first book in her new City Limits Series. Introducing readers to Mutt and Vaughn, Mabie immerses readers into a beautiful, heart-warming and memorable love story. Set in a quaint small town, the relief felt from being away from the hustle and bustle is felt not only by the characters but also the readers. Roots and Wings excels in its simplicity. The natural progression of this story and the connection to reality that Mabie has provided, gives this story heart, soul and life.

Mutt is born and raised in Wynn, helping her dad out in his Car Garage business and making extra money off of her passion for fishing; Mutt is happy and content. Vaughn is new to Wyatt. Leaving a bad break up behind, he is nervous but excited to fulfil his dreams in this quirky and intriguing small town. Meeting one another in a local diner, the small town friendliness is felt from the beginning. Initially connecting over good manners and good deeds, Vaughn and Mutt seamlessly become fast friends. As Vaughn and Mutt go from friends to lovers, readers witness two people who are happy and secure within themselves to know what they want and to go get it.

This story is real. And when I say real, I mean genuine, authentic, realistic and tangibly sincere. The slow burn between Vaughn and Mutt is perfection. Exploring their relationship, from the beginning of their friendship to the moment they fall in love, M. Mabie shows off her ability to pay respect to the details of the everyday love story.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

M. Mabie lives in Illinois with her husband. She is the author of the steamy comedy Fade In. Her sophomore release, Bait, is the first book in the angst-filled erotic Wake Series. She writes unconventional love stories and tries to embody “real-life romance.”

She cares about politics, but will not discuss them in public. She uses the same fork at every meal, watches Wayne’s World while cleaning, and lets her dog sleep on her head. She has always been a writer. In fact, she was born with a pen in her hand, which almost never happens. Almost.

M. Mabie usually doesn’t speak in third-person either. She promises.
