Review: Uncovering Hope

Carly Reynolds doesn’t have much faith in men. She no longer trusts her heart to lead—not after doing her so wrong. Raising her sons alone, Carly must learn to stand on her own. But she’s stronger now, wiser, and determined to move forward.

Derek Taylor, the sexy tatted drummer for Three Ugly Guys, doesn’t have much time for women, except to hook up and get off. He’d rather focus on writing music and living the career he’s always dreamed. Fate may have other plans.

Dr. Garrett Brooks is the talk of Children’s Hospital. As the new surgical resident, he is young, charming, and attractive. He takes an immediate interest in Carly but his demanding work schedule and her single mom status don’t leave much opportunity for dating.

Between love interests, two boys to raise, and a full time nursing job, Carly’s ability to stand strong is put to the test. And when strange things start to transpire Carly must face the reality that her past has come back to haunt. Can the woman she’s become dare to hope for love again? And which man will win her heart?

Uncovering Hope is the third and final book in the Uncovering Love series, but can also be read as a standalone.

Uncovering Hope is the final installment in Kacey Shea’s Uncovering Love Series and I have to admit this one is my favourite. In a beautiful ending to the series, Kacey shows her continuous growth as an author with memorable characters and a deeply moving love story. Meeting these characters throughout the series and more so, Uncovering Desire, we remember Derek as the gorgeous and irresistible drummer, which Carly finds unbelievable sexy. Opposites in every way, their chemistry is palpable and Kacey Shea brings to life an intriguing and layered story – Uncovering Hope

Carly is a single mother, with two young boys and her job as a nurse, there is no time for anything else – or so she thinks. And then Derek comes along. With his sex appeal and his rocker-boy swagger, he is the perfect example of the saying “don’t judge a book by its cover.” Whilst Carly is sure he only wants her for one night, Derek is determined to convince her she is so much more.

As both these characters continue to surprise one another Kacey Shea also successfully weaves the important and imperative individual journey of both Carly and Derek. With their time together becoming more frequent and their insecurities rising to the surface, readers become invested in every want and need of these beautiful souls. Filled with secrets, surprises and an element of suspense that nobody sees coming,

Uncovering Hope has all the perfect ingredients for a magical and unforgettable love story. Bringing back series favourites the reminder of this tight knit “family” is heartwarming. Not only does it add extra depth to the way the series ends, but their presence in the unfolding of this story, heightens the intensity and importance of the connection between Carly ad Derek.

Reading all three books it has been a pleasure to share in this journey with Kacey Shea and her characters. Developing her skills and expanding her talents Shea’s work shows off all the love she has for the written word. Knowing that these books are just the beginning of a long list of illustrious story lines and characters, Kacey Shea has a serious on her hands.
