My life had a plan. Until he invaded it and stole it all away. My captor took me and I became a pawn.
His strategy changed and he sent me away to WAR, because money is everything in this world.
In my WAR, though, I found peace. I couldn’t help but find love where I least expected it, with a man who lived a battle every day of his life …all inside his head.
But then my captor came back for me. Yet, this time, battle lines had been drawn and I was protected.
So we thought.
Even though my WAR was raging, my captor would fight to the death.
The good guys always win, right? Not always.
All’s fair in love and WAR, right? Not this time.
Warning: This is War, Baby is a dark romance. A really dark one. So dark you’re going to wish you had a flashlight to see yourself to the end and someone to hold your hand. Human trafficking, dubious consent, and strong sexual themes that could trigger emotional distress are found in this story. This story is NOT for everyone.
There are so many words and somehow not really enough. I don’t know how much to write about or how much of it all I want to keep by myself BUT the bottom line is that this book is completely unpredictable. This story line will suck you in and spit you back out. Feeling lost, confused, broken but above all invested. This is my first K. Webster book and it obviously wont be my last. In a series of volatile plot twists This is War, Baby will have you shocked and guessing till the very last page.
K Webster doesn’t hold back in this book, nor does she lure you into a false sense of serenity and safety in her first few chapters. As we are introduced to the sweet and young Baylee, we witness her being captured by Gabe, a scary beast of a man. From the beginning you are taken on a journey into the dark world of desperation and depravity. With Gabe pulling all the strings, like a puppet master we are pulled into the darkness as he prepares Baylee, to be sold as part of a sex trafficking ring.
Finally sold off for a whopping five million dollars, Baylee meets her new “captor.” Delivering the biggest shock of the story readers get to meet Warren, also known as War. War is everything you didn’t see coming. He is the light and he is the darkness. His presence in this story will shock you and heal you. Holding his delicate heart in her hands, Baylee turns the tables and becomes a pillar of strength, she changes his world…
She is the Peace to his War.
This story will completely blow your mind. Webster shows off her complete disregard for normal and nice and God, if it isn’t everything my black heart needs. Webster’s commitment to the story line and her ability to push boundaries to the absolute extreme will have you captivated and hypnotized – lured into a world of horror, bewilderment and the strangest version of hope. This is War, baby is complex, three dimensional and heartbreaking. Paired with a sliver of a silver lining Webster has aptly named her latest novel. Webster writes this story with truth and conviction, because really,
This is War…
