Genre: New Adult

Release Date: October 27, 2015

SYNOPSIS:

One night changed my life—one that I barely remember.

When I close my eyes, my mind paints a picture of his smile and shades the contours of his hands, the deep scar around his bicep.

I’m an artist, yet my hands are unsteady. With his presence, he has unknowingly broken that something inside of me that makes me who I am.

Being around him is like standing in a rainstorm. First the drops tickle my skin, and then they coat me, refusing to be ignored. Finally, they soak into me, reaching parts of me I don’t think anyone has ever touched.

When dreams turn into reality, will the picture in my mind transfer to paper?

MY REVIEW

The Weight of Rain is a story that covers an overwhelming amount of emotions, filled with a myriad of story lines that fit together perfectly; Dietz captivates readers with her head strong characters and their flawless presence in every aspect of the book.

The Weight of Rain is written from only Lauren Crosby’s perspective and as the book starts off with her trying to remember her one night stand, readers are forgiven for thinking that they know how the story will pan out. With a welcomed amount of depth and complexity, Mariah Dietz shows off her beautiful writing and her ability to keep readers surprised and interested. Right. Till. The. Very. End.

Making new friends, pushing herself out of her comfort zone and determined to not let her guard down, Lauren Crosby is seeking, approval, friendship and love. Readers get to witness the heartbreakingly beautiful journey of a young woman who unexpectedly finds all the things she has been searching for. But can she ride this high?

Chasing what can seem like the ever illusive happy every after, readers will be frantically trying to get to the end of this story. Hoping and praying for a positive outcome, Mariah Dietz excels at character development and acknowledging the importance of their presence. The Weight of Rain will introduce you to a new type of love, determination and persistence – showing off the bright side in having baggage.
