Review: Chaser

unnamed (2)

Everyone knows you should never say never.

Cooper Moore never saw Maggie Williams coming. She was just his best friend’s little sister, the curly-haired, freckle-faced girl from Mississippi who was absolutely off limits. And he never thought about her any other way — not until he saw her that night, broken and brave. From that moment on, he knew he’d do whatever it took to protect her, even if it meant he had to stay away.

Maggie never expected to find her fiancé banging her maid of honor an hour before she was set to walk down the aisle, but life’s funny that way. The only option to save her sanity is to get the hell out of Jackson and move to New York where her brother lives. The only downside: Cooper is there too. And she just doesn’t know if she can stay away from him — the filthy rich, dead sexy playboy who’s allergic to commitment.

The second Maggie sees him again, she realizes he’ll be impossible to resist. Luckily, commitment is the last thing on her mind, and Cooper is the perfect escape. As long as she can keep her heart in check, everything will be just fine. Because she can never have feelings for him. Or at least that’s what she’ll keep telling herself.

Chaser is a standalone romantic comedy and book 2 of the Bad Habits series.

Chaser is everything a ‘forbidden, best-friends sister, no go zone romance’ should be. For my first Staci Hart novel this didn’t disappoint and I am now one-clicking everything this author has to offer. Chaser is like a recipe for your favourite dessert – it has the right amount of each ingredient; both good and bad for you. Combined, creating the perfect blend. Resulting in a perfect story; for ultimate delectable consumption.

For anyone that has already read With A Twist, you’ve already met Cooper and Maggie. And if you haven’t met them, Chaser fills you in on anything you may have missed out on. Cooper is a very satisfied bachelor. With a photo shoot for W Magazines top 25 eligible bachelors under his belt, readers get to know the type of guy that Cooper is. Hot. Rich. Joker. Single… Always Single. Then comes Maggie she is the younger sister of West from Book One and West is Cooper’s best friend.

Running from a disastrous relationship, Maggie goes to New York to shake off the pain and heartache given when she found her fiancé cheating on her with her maid of honour – on their wedding day. And she runs straight into bed with Cooper Moore. Having the casual fling of a lifetime, Maggie sets some rules. Just sex and only with her, for Cooper the sex part, the monogamy may be an issue though – or not? For Maggie, she didn’t know having sex was so much fun.

Getting together in secret and abiding by all the rules both Maggie and Cooper are determined not to ruin a good thing. But as lines get blurred and secrets are revealed it seems there may be more for Cooper and Maggie. With significant influences from secondary characters, the choices and future of Maggie and Cooper becomes uncertain. Surprising for all, uncertain equals painful.

As the world of the unknown seems to hover over Maggie and Cooper, it seems they are stuck. With all the signs pointing in different directions, readers will be anxiously wondering which path they will choose and hoping desperately it is the same one.

Staci Hart has written a quirky, sarcastic romance novel filled with memorable and relatable moments. Showing off friendship and loyalty, Hart shows off the multi-dimensional matters of the heart.
