Wild Cards is the first book by I’ve read by R.C Stephens and even though this is part of a series, I at no stage felt like I had missed out on any imperative details impacting this story.

R.C. Stephens graciously introduces readers to Luc and Vicky, sharing enough of their past for readers to know it is dark, twisted and according to each of them, unforgivable. As they Luc and Vicky set themselves up for a life of solitude, isolation and denial of real and meaningful intimacy, the world just keeps pushing them together.

With two coincidental meetings up their sleeves Luc and Vicky are attracted to each other instantly. Ignoring their physical attraction, their ‘friendship’ becomes the forefront of there time spent together. Moving at a steady pace, both the novel and Luc and Vicky’s story reveals all the heartache, loss, grief and dreams of redemption, that these characters are enduring.

R.C. Stephens has written a novel that’s intense, passionate and filled with an explosion of emotions on each page. Whilst Luc and Vicky try to navigate the uniqueness of their relationship and the hurdles they need to jump, readers can’t help but keep fingers crossed for a happy ever after.
